    We will do a preliminary evaluation of your property to evaluate topography, wetlands, and cultural resources to determine the expected usable acreage. Then, our interconnection team evaluates the feasibility of tying the project into the electric grid. If the evaluations show your land is suitable, we would begin negotiating the terms of a purchase or solar farm lease agreement.

    After our initial evaluation and determination that your property is a good site for a solar project, we will establish a lease or purchase option agreement. From there, we handle the development of the project which includes completing environmental screening, obtaining state, federal local zoning approvals, and finally approval from the local utility or grid operator to connect the project.

    Urban Grid works with landowners and local officials to minimize visual impact utilizing setbacks and vegetative screening. We see this as part of being a good neighbor.

    Our projects are designed to capture the sun and turn it into clean, renewable energy, not reflect it. The solar modules are manufactured with an anti-reflective coating that meets the standards of the Federal Aviation Administration for use at airports.

    We develop project specific landscape management plans, which include the planting of native grass species throughout the project site, pollinator habitat, and native tree and shrub species for vegetative screening. With these plantings, our projects will reduce nutrient runoff from stormwater while encouraging new biodiverse habitats that will benefit the local ecosystem.

    Urban Grid will decommission the system and remove the equipment, recycling everything that can be, and returning the land to the condition in which it existed prior to the installation of the solar project.

    The power generated by the project will be delivered into the local electric grid, either at the transmission or distribution level. From there, it mixes in with other electricity to power the local homes and businesses.
